Using Counterpoint in offline mode

Synchronizing data

During offline operations, all tickets, orders, and other Point of Sale documents you enter are written to the workstation’s local NCR Counterpoint database. The information in this database must be synchronized with the server on a regular basis, to ensure that all offline data is written to the central database and that the offline database receives any configuration changes or other updates from the server.

As you work in offline mode, CPServices extracts new tickets and any new customer records it finds to an XML file every fifteen minutes. These offline data files accumulate on your offline workstation until its connection to the server is re-established, at which point the synchronization process begins immediately.

When an offline workstation reconnects to the server, it immediately sends all extracted offline data to the server for processing and downloads any updated configuration data from the server for inclusion in the local offline database.

Tickets and new customer records that have not been extracted from the offline database will be continue to be extracted to XML files every fifteen minutes, and then uploaded to the server, until the databases are synchronized.

You can right-click the Counterpoint Services Status icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar and select Sync Now to immediately extract all remaining offline data for upload to the server, as described in Counterpoint Services Status utility.
