Configuring an Offline Ticket Entry system
Enabling auto-assign document numbers
Counterpoint can be configured to automatically assign sequential document numbers to tickets, orders, gift certificates, and other Point of Sale documents that users create during normal operations. Which documents are numbered automatically and the numbers that are used depend on your store, station, and workgroup settings.
Similarly, Counterpoint can automatically number each Point of Sale document that users create during offline operations. Automatically assigning document numbers ensures that tickets, orders, and other documents created in offline mode can be easily distinguished from documents created during normal operations and prevents numbers from different workstations from overlapping.
We strongly recommend that you always auto-assign all document numbers in offline mode to ensure that they are unique and to prevent potential data conflicts. If multiple users assign the same number to a Point of Sale document in offline mode, data conflicts can arise during synchronization that will require the assistance of Counterpoint Support to resolve.
Follow these steps to configure each station to automatically assign document numbers to each Point of Sale document that is created in offline mode:
-
Select Setup > Point of Sale > Stations to display the Stations window.
-
Enter or look up the Store and Station for which you want to specify auto-assign numbers, and then select the Offline tab.
-
Select the Always auto-assign check box for each type of document for which you want numbers to always be assigned automatically.
Do not select these check boxes if you want to allow users to manually enter document numbers.
Click the
button to save your changes.
Repeat steps 2 through 4 for each station you want to configure for offline mode.
