Configuring an Offline Ticket Entry system

Enabling additional offline mode activities

By default, when a user accesses Ticket Entry or Touchscreen Ticket Entry in offline mode, the user is restricted to entering new tickets and creating new customers on-the-fly. However, you can configure each store to allow users to perform additional actions—including issuing and redeeming gift certificates and store credits, and entering orders and layaways—whenever they are using Counterpoint in offline mode.

Before you enable some of these activities in offline mode, you should evaluate the financial risks to your business.  For example, the remaining balance of a gift certificate or store credit a customer wishes to redeem cannot be verified in offline mode.

Follow these steps to enable additional offline activities—including issuing and redeeming gift certificates and store credits—for each store:

  1. Start NCR Counterpoint and log in to your company database.

Make sure you are connected to your server database. You cannot enable additional offline mode activites while you are working in offline mode.

  1. Select Setup > Point of Sale > Stores to display the Stores window.

  2. Enter or look up your Store, and then select the Offline tab.

  3. Select the following check boxes to enable the corresponding offline activities:

  1. Click the  button to save your changes.
